In between deployments as a Combat Medic & Mental Health Officer,
I was, quite reluctantly, temporarily assigned to Guard Duty on Base
Here are some lessons I learned on guard duty:
1. It can always be worse.
(I could be on kitchen duty)
2. You’re exactly where God wants you to be.
3. There’s no such thing as a More Important or Less Important job.
We’re each assigned our unique mission, by someone who sees a bigger picture.
4. With one finger, I can make a tractor trailer stop and wait.
Never underestimate your smallest actions.
5. Rest.
Life can’t always be exciting.
Boring jobs need to get done also.
6. Nothing can get done, without Someone quietly protecting you in the background
7. Patience.
I can’t let two cars in through one gate at the same time
Everything happens at the right time
8. Attract
You don’t always have to run to where the action is.
Sometimes you wait at your post, and let the action come to you.
9. Sometimes all you need to do, is open the door for someone.
They can do the rest.
